Frequently Asked Questions
Over the months of running AceFun Games, the same questions keep landing in my inbox. I've collected the most common ones here. If yours isn't answered below, just reach out through our contact page — I read every message personally.
Are the games really free?
Yes, completely free. Every game on this site is free to play with no hidden costs, no premium tiers, and no "pay to unlock" nonsense. The site is supported entirely by advertising, which is what lets me keep building and hosting these games without charging anyone. You'll never be asked to pay for anything here.
Do I need to create an account or sign up?
No account needed — ever. I deliberately built this site so you can land on any game and start playing within seconds. No registration forms, no email verification, no passwords to forget. Just click a game and play. Your high scores are saved locally in your own browser, not on any server.
Do I need to download or install anything?
Nothing to download. Every game runs directly in your web browser using HTML5 and JavaScript. There are no plugins to install (remember Flash? thankfully those days are over), no app store visits, and no software updates. If you have a modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge — you're ready to play.
Do the games work on my phone?
Absolutely. Every game is built to work on both desktop and mobile. For games that originally used keyboard controls (like Snake or Maze Runner), I've added on-screen touch controls and swipe gestures. The game canvases automatically resize to fit your screen. That said, a couple of games — like Typing Speed — naturally play better with a physical keyboard, but they still function on mobile.
Are my high scores saved?
Your scores and progress are saved in your browser's local storage, which means they stay on your device. This has one trade-off worth knowing: if you clear your browser data or switch to a different device or browser, your saved scores won't carry over. I chose this approach deliberately — it means I don't need to collect any personal data from you just to remember your best score.
Who makes these games?
I do — every single one. AceFun Games is an independent project, and I hand-code each game from scratch using HTML5 Canvas and vanilla JavaScript. No game engines, no purchased templates, no embedded third-party games. You can read more about why I started this project on the About page, or dive into the technical side on our game development blog.
Why do you show ads?
The ads are what keep this site free and running. Hosting, domain fees, and the time it takes to build new games all cost something. I've deliberately kept ads to a minimum — usually just one per page — because I hate cluttered, ad-stuffed sites as much as you do. The goal is a clean experience where the games come first and ads stay out of your way.
Can I suggest a new game or report a bug?
Please do! Player feedback has directly shaped several games on this site. If you've found a bug, hit a control that feels off, or have an idea for a game you'd love to see, head to the contact page and let me know. When reporting bugs, mentioning your device and browser helps me track things down faster.
Can I share your games with friends?
Yes, and I'd love it if you did. Feel free to share links to any game with friends, family, classmates, or on social media. Every game has its own URL, so you can link directly to a specific one. Sharing is the best way to support an independent project like this.
Are the games suitable for children?
Yes. All games are family-friendly with no violent, adult, or inappropriate content. Many of them — like Memory Cards, Number Memory, and Math Sprint — are genuinely educational and help develop cognitive skills. That's why I write about the brain-training aspects on the blog. Parents can feel comfortable letting kids play here.
Why did you build this site?
Honestly? I love classic games, and I wanted to prove to myself I could rebuild them properly from scratch. It started as a coding exercise and grew into something I'm genuinely proud of. Each game taught me something new about programming, game design, and what makes play fun. The full story is on the About page if you're curious.
